my next record, on the benefits of staying in one place (while your lover moves away), will be released on vinyl in mid-2025. i am taking this opportunity to release physical media for the first time, and to limit my music’s exposure on streaming services. this record features cellist rose bellini and violist erin wight, both of whom are sensitive and intentional musicians. their intuitions brought this record in a world previously locked to me, and for that I am grateful.
it also must be said that this record was crafted start to finish by my dear friend, engineer and producer robb davidson at nels motel. robb has mixed all my records, but this was the first time we went all in and i mean it when i say i couldn’t have done it without him.
you don’t say is a collection of songs recorded in 2020. i recorded the guitar parts in my living room, and sent them out to my friends, many of whom happen to be world-class musicians. they wrote and recorded their parts and sent them back to me.
in 2019, i put out anxious pangs. it is my clearest work yet, merging chamber music and minimalist tendencies with my love of pop song structure.
it’s an instrumental record.
it features some of my most trusted collaborators.
it was recorded at avast studios, in seattle, by my friend and engineer robb davidson. i mixed the record, and sarah register mastered it.
